Vadim Shchepilov About the Art of Ori and the Will of the Wisps

Vadim Shchepilov was born and raised in Ukraine, which is where he’d spend most of his youth dreaming about becoming a graphic designer while working his day job. Once he learned to use Photoshop, he realized that this kind of software could be used for personal art as well, and like many others, he dived right in. After a couple of years’ worth of practice, Vadim became a skilful generalist, mainly because he already tried his hand at everything digital art had to offer back when he was still learning. Things like CAD, illustration and MEL scripting were all familiar to him. And if any of you remember our previous interviews with the artists behind Ori and the Blind Forest (2015), you’ll know that Moon Studios’ workflow is built on having everyone contributing to a variety of different things…

Simon Kopp About the Difference Between Concept Art for Film and Games

Simon Kopp is a twenty-nine year old Concept Artist and Illustrator from Heilbad Heiligenstadt, Germany. He is one of the up and coming artists in the games industry, getting his first time in the spotlight back when Airborne Studios first released the concept art for the critically acclaimed Ori and the Blind Forest, and not letting go of it ever since. Kopp has since worked with world–renowned game developers like Insomniac Games, as well as having been published in several books by 3dtotal. His most recent project was an animated feature film – Maya the Bee – The Honey Games.

Začalo to emailom od Thomasa Mahlera, direktora Ori, potom ako si vypočul niečo z mojej hudby rôzne online. Následne ma požiadal, aby som napísal prototyp partitúry pre hru, ktorá bola potom rozdistribuovaná rozličným vydavateľom. Hra skončila u Microsoftu a ostatní sa stali históriou. Pracovať na hre štyri roky sa môže zdať dlhá doba, neznamená to však štyri roky komponovania. Mal som to šťastie, že som mal voľný prístup ku všetkým verziám hry, aj k samotnému jadru, hernému enginu (Unity) a do všetkých častí som mohol zasahovať. Je to veľmi unikátny aspekt Moon Štúdií, pretože podľa mňa je dosť nezvyčajné, aby hudobný skladateľ vstupoval aj do oblastí, ktoré sa netýkajú riadenia čiste muzikálnej oblasti.

Ori and the Blind Forest’s Soundtrack

Gareth Coker is a Los Angeles-based composer who received his education at the Royal Academy of Music in London and at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, studying both composition and film scoring respectively. Having visited and or lived in different countries, Gareth has been influenced by many cultures which have found their place in his music. Since he moved to Los Angeles in 2009, Gareth has worked on various different projects through which he gained a foothold in the industry – with the most notable one being Ori and the Blind Forest.
