Efflam Mercier is a multidisciplinary artist based in Brest, France, currently working on concept art for film at MPC, as well as doing freelance work on Magic: The Gathering. He specializes in lighting and visual storytelling, using painting, photography and CGI to create stunning artwork. This artist is renowned for his keenness to help other artists better themselves and it’s likely, that some of you know him quite well. Today, he’s here to talk to us about the importance of having original ideas when creating concept art.
Ryan Gitter is a Concept Artist based in Austin, United States of America. He’s employed as a Senior Concept Artist at Certain Affinity, and has worked on several notable projects including Call of Duty: Ghosts, Halo 4, and PlanetSide 2 to name a few.
The society’s attitudes toward art have changed a great deal, especially after the tradition had been thoroughly dismantled around the mid 60s. In a way, the arts have lost their original purpose, before, they were a means of reconciliation with our finite existence, ceding place to clever manipulation and epatage, retaining nothing but superficial features.
Jorgen Grotdal is an eighteen year old self-taught graphic designer based in Trondheim, Norway. He specializes in branding, typography and icon design, and has been working as a freelancer for the past five years. Two years back, he established the Ligature Collective; an art collective focused on vintage and modern typography. The art collective is a notable one as it encompasses a lot of renown typographers and serves as an inspiration to a vast amount of aspiring artists.
